About Allan

The constituency of Basildon and Billericay has been Allan’s home all of his life. He was born at St Andrews Hospital in Billericay and has always lived in the area. Allan is no stranger to active politics. He is currently a local councillor in Basildon and represents the ward of Fryerns. He has been a councillor since 2002 and is Deputy Leader of the Labour Group opposition on Basildon District Council..

During the 2005 General Election Allan was the Election Agent for Labour's candidate in Rochford and Southend East where the team reduced the Tory majority by 2,000 achieving the ONLY swing to Labour in a Tory constituency in the country, and the best swing to Labour in the East of England.

Allan has been a leading campaigner for Labour in the East of England. He was recently elected to sit on the Environment and Resources Panel on the East of England Regional Assembly. He represents the East of England on the National Executive of the Christian Socialist Movement.
