About Allan Davies
The constituency of Basildon and Billericay has been Allan’s home all of his life. He was born at St Andrews Hospital in Billericay and has always lived in the area. He attended Woodlands Comprehensive School in Basildon. He is 35 years old and is married to Sarah. They have 2 children India and Drew both of whom go to the local primary school.

Allan is currently enjoying studying International Politics as a mature student at the University of East London and is in his final year there. Previously he had 15 years of employment which were spent in customer service, as a postman and as a manager of Wickford Marketplace. He also spent a year working for Essex County Council as a youth worker in Wickford and Billericay.

Allan is no stranger to active politics. He is currently a local councillor in Basildon and represents the ward of Fryerns. He has been a councillor since 2002 and is Deputy Leader of the Labour Group opposition on Basildon District Council where he sits on the cabinet.

During the 2005 General Election Allan was the Election Agent for Labour's candidate in Rochford and Southend East where the team reduced the Tory majority by 2,000 achieving the ONLY swing to Labour in a Tory constituency in the country, and the best swing to Labour in the East of England.

Allan has been a leading campaigner for Labour in the East of England. He was recently elected to sit on the Social Inclusion Panel on the East of England Regional Assembly. He represents the East of England on the National Executive of the Christian Socialist Movement. Allan attends South Green Baptist Church in Billericay.

Outside of local politics Allan has a keen interest in international development issues and is a keen campaigner for equality and human rights. He travelled twice to Romania during the early 1990s taking aid to families and under-privileged children.
